Introduction

Allen & Erdmann (2012) recorded this species from New Guinea and Japan. However, Lourie et al. (2016) suggested that the species was restricted to Lord Howe Island and that records from New Guinea belong to a different species, but did not exclude the possibility that H. colemani is a widely distributed species.

Benthic, sand bottom marine, seagrass.

Extra Ecological Information

Coarse sand with sparse Zostera and Halophila with fine filamentous algae on their leaves matching filaments on seahorse; in 5 m.
