Introduction

This is one of a number of species from the wet tropics of North Queensland with the forewing with dark markings and red venation. Whether these species are all valid needs to be confirmed by examination of the male genitalia.

Ecological Descriptors

Adult: phloem feeder (associated flora: Saccharum officinale Salisb. [POACEAE] (sugarcane)).

Extra Ecological Information

Nymph may be fungal feeder

 

Diagnosis

Allied to the type but the apical veins are mostly sanguineous, and the tegminal pattern is pale, and more broken. Lateral margins of frons contiguous throughout, and dorsally the head is much narrower and narrowly excavated. Length as in the type (3.25 mill. to apex of abdomen, 7 to apex of tegmen) (Kirkaldy 1906)
