Introduction
The tribe Grammistini contains seven (eight if Jeboehlkia is included) genera and 26 species (Nelson 1994; Randall & Baldwin 1997, Nelson et al. 2016), with six genera and seven species known from Australia.
Randall et al. (1971) placed Pseudogramma and Aporops in the family Pseudogrammatidae based on the absence of a toxic mucus, a disjunct lateral line and vertebral counts of 26–28. Some authors combine this tribe with the Diploprionini in the subfamily Grammistinae. The works of Johnson (1983) and Baldwin & Johnson (1993) are followed here in treating the group as a tribe within the Serranidae. Randall & Baldwin (1997) revised Pseudogramma.
Maximum size 35 cm.
