Diagnosis

Carapace usually elongate in lateral view. In dorsal view, postero-dorsal margin of left valve usually with well-developed, lobe-like expansion which overlaps the right valve. Setal group of the second segment of the mandibular palp with three setae. Male prehensile palps asymmetrical, right one helmet-shaped. Cleaning leg with two setae on basal segment. Female genital lobe with triangular process directed posteriorly. "M" process on hemipenis heavily sclerotised and stick-like.
