Diagnosis

Carapace approximately elliptical in lateral view. Valve surface anteriorly usually with wart-like elevation. Ventral margin with rounded expansion in the mouth area. Calcified inner lamella on both valves broad. Selvage if present peripheral. Left valve overlaps right one ventrally. Terminal segment of maxillular palp cylindrical and curved, about 2 times as long as basally broad. Second thoracopod: seta d1 of protopod about 3 times longer than d2.
