Cape Cuvier (24º24´S) to NW of Port Hedland (19º33'S), and Rowley Shoals (17º31'S), WA, Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Indian Ocean, north of Darwin and Bathurst Island, NT (129-130ºE), and east of Cape York (10º20'S) to Moreton Bay (26º58'S), QLD and juveniles south to Sydney; tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.
