Taxonomic Decision for Synonymy

 

Introduction

This genus is distributed through the Ethiopian, southern Palaearctic, Oriental, Pacific and Australian Regions. Webb (1981) recognised four species, two of which are found in Australia. Zhang and Webb (1996) recognised an additional four species from Africa and the Marquesas Islands.

Diagnosis

The genus can be distinguished by its usually acutely produced head, internal male pygophore ledge and aedeagus with a pair of apical dorsally directed processes (Zhang & Webb 1996).
