Tribe Danielocandonini Karanovic, 2007

 

Introduction

The following genera belong into the tribe (number of species in brackets):

1. Danielocandona Broodbakker, 1993 (1);
2. Deminutiocandona Karanovic, 2003 (10);
3. Kencandona n. gen. (2);
4. Leicacandona n. gen. (9);
5. Meischcandona Karanovic, 2001 (1).

The second, third and fourth genera are endemic to Australia. Danielocandona is endemic to South America, and Meischcandona is endemic to Africa.

 

Diagnosis

A small Candoninae, usually with soft carapaces. Typical Candoninae muscle scar patterns. Short, straight marginal pore canals. A1 5-segmented. Prehensile palps not segmented. T2 without basal seta. T3 with square-shaped distal segment, carrying 2 short and one long seta. Only Tg seta present on endopod T3. CR with or without reductions. Hemipenis modest and without prominent chitinised parts on it. Zenker's organ often with reduced rows of spines.
