- Coryphaenoides profundicola Nybelin, O. 1957. Deep-sea bottom fishes. Report of the Swedish Deep-Sea Expedition 1947–1948 2(20): 247-345 [268, pl. 2(figs. 1-5), pl. 3(figs. 5-8)] [the derivation of the name is from the Latin profundus = deep + the noun cola = inhabitant of, and is a noun in apposition; see Kottelat 2013].

Holotype NMGC NMG (4872-4867 m), North Atlantic [22°31'N, 23°28'W to 22°41'N, 23°10'W].
