Introduction
Although originally described from southern Australia, there are apparently no confirmed records of the species in Australia. It is common in New Zealand and it is unclear what the Australian records were based on (see Gomon 2008).

From SA to off King George Sound, WA (117º58´E) but see introduction; temperate, south-west Pacific (New Zealand).
