Introduction

Previously referred to in the Australian literature as Cetoscarus bicolor, a Red Sea endemic (Parenti & Randall, 2011).

New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia

Ningaloo Reef, WA (22°S), Rowley Shoals (17°20'S), Scott Reef (14°03'S), WA, and Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea (12°15'S) and north of Cape York (11°S) to Moreton Bay, QLD, Coringa-Herald National Nature Reserve, Coral Sea, also Elizabeth & Middleton Reefs, Tasman Sea; tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.
