Off Albany (117º55'E) to the Kimberley region (15º30'S), WA, and off Ingham, QLD (18º43'S) to off Lakes Entrance, VIC (38º53'S), but now rare south of Jervis Bay, NSW (35º09'S). Records from Tasmania and the Great Australian Bight are probably C. zeehaani; subtropical, tropical, Indo-west Pacific
