West of Rottnest Island (32º00'S, 114º55'E) to NW of Port Hedland (18º16'S, 118°12'E) WA, off Sydney, NSW (33º33´S, 154°04'E) and possibly off the west coast of TAS (42°15'S, 144°43'E), distribution on east coast uncertain following removal of A. howensis from synonymy with this species; tropical, Indo-west Pacific.
