Introduction
The classification presented here follows Nelson (2006). More recent studies (Johnson et al. 2012, Nelson et al. 2016) separated the Synaphobrahchidae into its own suborder and placed the Serrivomeridae and Nemichthyidae in the Anguilloidei.
