Bulletin of the United States Fish Commission 23(2): 575-713 figs 230-276 pls 66-101 [643, pl. 84] [the genus is treated as masculine under Article 30.1.4.3 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature; derivation is apparently from the Latin filium = thread + fer = bearing and considered here as an adjective with correct ending of fer and not ferus].
