Type data:
Holotype ANIC ♂ (coll.: 3.iv.1940, C.F.H. Jenkins, Atriplex sp.), Merredin, Western Australia.

Evans, J.W. 1966. The leafhoppers and froghoppers of Australia and New Zealand. Memoirs of the Australian Museum 12: 1-347 [264] - Austroasca merredinensis Lower, 1952 [Austroasca Lower was synonymised with Empoasca Walsh by Evans (1966) who listed all the included species as new combinations. Ghauri (1967) regarded the two genera as being separate and this was accepted by Evans (1977). However, the reinstated combinations were not listed by either author and first reappeared in Day & Fletcher (1994)]. —

Introduction
Although described from SW Western Australia, this species is well known in south eastern Australia on saltbush, Atriplex spp (Chenopodiaceae). A single record from the Northern Territory needs to be confirmed.

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: parenchyma feeder (associated flora: Atriplex sp. [CHENOPODIACEAE]).
Diagnosis
General coloration (spirit specimens) light brownish. Anterior margin of crown bluntly angularly produced. Length ♂ 3.9 mm, ♀ 4.4 mm (Evans 1966).
