   Holotype ASCU ♂ (coll.: 3.xii.1949, C.E. Chadwick), Mt Keira, New South Wales.

• Austroasca bractigera Lower, 1952 [Austroasca Lower was synonymised with Empoasca Walsh by Evans (1966) who listed all the included species as new combinations. Ghauri (1967) regarded the two genera as being separate and this was accepted by Evans (1977). However, the reinstated combinations were not listed by either author and first reappeared in Day & Fletcher (1994)]. —

Introduction

This small green leafhopper was first described from the Sydney basin but specimens have also been identified from Terania Creek on the far New South Wales North Coast and from the Daly Basin in the Northern Territory.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: parenchyma feeder (associated flora: Toona australis F.Mueller [MELIACEAE]).

 

Diagnosis

General coloration yellow. Crown of head bright yellow with a faint white stripe on the incomplete coronal suture. Tegmen normal, yellowish and hyaline. Length ♂ 3.6 mm (Evans 1966, as Empoasca bractigera).

Lower (1952) gave a comprehensive description with figures of the male genitalia.
