Diagnosis
Carapace large (adult 3 mm and more), subrectangular to subtriangular, with smooth pseudopunctate valves. Ventral margin almost straight, except in mouth region where slightly to strongly concave. Anterior margin broadly rounded, posterior narrower. Selvage narrow and peripheral on both valves; marginal zone narrow. Marginal pore canals numerous, short and straight. Second antenna sexually dimorphic: in males with three large and 1 small claw on penultimate segment, and 1 long claw on terminal segment; in females only with 2 large claws plus 1 small end claw on penultimate segment. Caudal ramus with double row of 4 groups of fine spinules on posterior margin; both claws and both setae present. Male prehensile palps symmetrical, Zenker's organ with about 75 rows of spines.
