   Lectotype BMNH 1847.6.17.35 (H.M.S. Fly), labelled Swan Riveru (lectotype supposedly from Swan River, Western Australia, separating the species from the related Atypichthys latus; however, there are no documented records of the genus from Western Australia).
  Paralectotype(s) BMNH 1848.10.25.13; BMNH 1848.10.25.14; BMNH 1847.6.17.34 skin (H.M.S. Fly), Holdfast Bay.
