Introduction
This species is widespread in southeastern Australian from South Australia to the New South Wales north coast. Evans (1966) synonymised Alodeltocephalus obliquus (Evans) with it and stated that the species was also widespread in New Zealand. However, Knight (1975) recognised both species as being valid and found no material of either species in the New Zealand collections. The species was excluded from the New Zealand fauna by Larivière, et al. (2010). Evans (1966) referred to a type from Bundaberg but no mention of this locality was made by Kirkaldy (1906) who listed the species only from Sydney and Mittagong. Knight (1975) listed a holotype male from Sydney (i.1905) and a paratype male with the same data but ii.1905. Fletcher & Condello (1993) listed 9 males, 3 females and one specimen without an abdomen as constituting the type series and designated the specimen listed by Knight (1975) as the "holotype" as lectotype.
