Type genus:
Deltocephalus Burmeister, 1838.
Introduction
Members of the leafhopper tribe Deltocephalini are some of the most abundant grassland leafhoppers throughout the World. In Australia, seven genera are represented. However, the three species placed in the Palaearctic genus Deltocephalus Burmeister almost certainly do not belong there and the tribal placement of the endemic genera Inghamia Evans and Loralia Evans is still under investigation.
Diagnosis
The tribe is distinguished only in the male by having the aedeagus and connective fused, the connective linear, segment X fully membranous and, usually, a long basal articulating arm of the style. In two other tribes that have the connective arms apically apposed (Paralimnini and Chiasmini), the arms are frequently more loop-shaped and the aedeagus and connective are not fused. All three tribes have the anteclypeus parallel margined or slightly tapered apically as opposed to being expanded apically in some other tribes (Webb & Viraktamath 2009).
