   Lectotype BMNH MEI091419 adult ♂ (22.xi.1914, A. White, (British Museum Reg. No BM 1917–104)), TAS: Mangalore.

  Comment: White (1915) described this species in Phycus, noting the greatly elongate antenna. Mann (1929) later transferred it to Agapophytus. The entire series of A. quatiens deposited in the BMNH by White had been labelled as syntypes as a matter of curatorial procedure. The male lectotype, in excellent condition (specimen MEI 091419) was designated to fix and stablise the concept of the name and was so labelled by Winterton & Irwin (2001).

Diagnosis

Scape longer than head; male frons width equal to ocellar tubercle; legs orange; wing mottled infuscate; terminalia orange; epandrium elongate, expanded ventro-laterally; ventral lobe ridge-like; inner gonocoxal process large, paddle-shaped; hypandrium very small; distiphallus tapered, recurved dorsally; dorsal apodeme of parameral sheath large, T-shaped; spermathecal sac ovoid, without outer reticulated lobes.
