Paratype(s) AM IB.1896; QM I.7721–22; (11 paratypes mentioned from several localities, but later indicated that holotype and paratypes lodged in Australian Museum and Queensland Museum).

Extra Distribution Information
Ulladulla, NSW (35°21'S) to Shark Bay, WA (25°20'S) and throughout coastal TAS; possibly more widespread, sometimes recorded to Myall Lakes, NSW, but difficult to separate from Acanthopagrus australis, and sometimes the two species hybridise; temperate.
