Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea (12º27'S), off Dampier Archipelago, WA, and off Cape York, QLD to Port Stephens, NSW (32°43'S), records from the NT based on misidentified H. angustus and records from the Gulf of Carpentaria require confirmation; tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific
