Clark (1911) distinguished between the two species by resurrecting the name of Antedon comata as Zygometra comata. Clark's paper, recognised as the original description of the species, was published prior to the 1911 Thetis report although it is apparent that the reverse was intended. The Sladen Collection in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter, Devon, has specimens of Zygometra comata (as Antedon elegans Bell) from the Philippines and Mergui Archipelago (Burma) ( [209]) which have been referred to Zygometra elegans by several authors and are almost certainly the original specimens on which the nom. nud. was based ( [118])
