Genus Zoraida Kirkaldy, 1900

Compiler and date details

21 January 2011 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

Muir (1918) recognised three subgenera of Zoraida and these were used by Metcalf (1945) who included an additional number of ungrouped species from Asia and New Guinea. Subgenus Zoraida Kirkaldy is distributed in SE Asian and Africa and includes all the known Australian species. Subgenus Neozoraida Muir is distributed between Sri Lanka and Africa while subgenus Peggiopsis Muir is mainly in the Philippines with species extending to New Guinea, Indonesia, India and Africa. A revision of the genus is needed to place Metcalf's unplaced species to subgenus.
