Genus Xenoleberis Kornicker, 1994

 

Introduction

Xenoleberis was erected for a new species Xenoleberis bex Kornicker 1994, plus two species were split from Bathyleberis. As with that genus, Xenoleberis has a tapered d-seta, but the mandible is different with a small exopod and no e-seta.

Diagnosis

Female carapace elongate with slightly convex ventral and dorsal margins. Ventral infold with narrow ridge just within valve edge. First antenna: 2nd segment without lateral bristle. Dorsal margin of 3rd segment with 6 spinous bristles. Sensory bristle of female 5th segment relatively short with 1 short slender proximal filament and 6 stouter terminal filaments. d-bristle of 8th segment well developed. Second antenna: endopod of female with 3 distinct segments and long terminal filament. Mandibula: basale endite with 3 end bristles. Exopod less than 1/4 length of dorsal margin of 1st endopodal segment. Dorsal margin of 2nd endopodal segment without long lateral e-bristle between b- and c-bristles. Maxilla: endopod 2-segmented with short alpha-bristle and long beta-bristle on 1st segment.
