Genus Xandarasterope Kornicker, 1996

 

Introduction

Two new species were described in this genus, with setae between the furcal claws. This is similar to Dolasterope, however that genus has numerous filaments on the s- seta. The type species is Xandarasterope storthynx Kornicker, 1996 (Kornicker and Poore 1996).

Diagnosis

Rostrum overhanging lower edge of incisure at inner end of incisure. First antenna: sensory bristle of 5th segment of adult female with 1 short proximal filament and 6 long terminal filaments. d- and e-bristles of 8th segment well developed, filament-like, almost equi-length, both with parallel sides and blunt tips. Mandibula: exopod about half length of dorsal margin of 1st segment. Dorsal margin of 2nd endopodal segment with lateral bristle (e-bristle) between b- and c-bristles. Maxilla: exopod absent. 1st endopodal segment with 1 alpha-bristle and 1 beta-bristle. 2nd endopodal segment with 1 terminal bristle. Furca: each lamella trapezoidal in shape and with slender bristles between and slightly lateral to main claws.
