Introduction

This species is known from a single male and a single female from the New South Wales north coast. It is the larger of the two known species.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Very dark brown, larger than type species, and exhibiting sexual dimorphism. Surface rugose, covered with minute fine white setae. Face ♂ black, ♀ brown. Frontal margin angular. Clypeus short, tip rounded. Eyes prominent, not visible from above. Humeral angle very well developed. Metopidium vertical, much higher than broad. Median pronotal process sinuate, terminating before reaching Cu1a in the ♂, slightly longer in the ♀. Lateral pronotal processes long and broad, much stronger than in type species, apex curved downwards. Tegmen apically acute, mottled brown. Venation with a few extra crossveins. More than half subcostal cell coriaceous. Apical veins almost straight. Appendix narrow. Length 7 mm (Day 1999).
