Subfamily Trizochelinae Forest, 1987

Introduction

The subfamily Trizochelinae comprises a single genus, Trizocheles Forest, 1987.

 

Diagnosis

Shield completely separated from posterior part of carapace, linea transversalis being complete. Telson composed of single plate. Propodus of fourth pereiopods with numerous spiniform or squamiform setae, usually imbricate and forming a more or less broad rasp on lateral face. Basal ocular pieces with triangular or spiniform anterior projection (ocular acicles). Abdominal segments, pleopods and uropods all symmetrical; telson subrectangular, longer than broad, with a transverse flexion line delimiting two rounded posterior lobes. No epipodite on third maxillipeds. (After Forest 1987).
