• Thalassina emerii Bell, T. 1844. On the Thalasina Emerii, a fossil crustacean, forwarded by Mr. W.S. MacLeay, from New Holland. Proceedings of the Geological Society of London 4(2): 360-362 1 fig. [93].

  Type data:

   Holotype BMNH fossilised ecdysis, 'New Holland', but considered likely to have come from the region of Anson Bay, near the mouth of the Daly River, NT.

Introduction

According to Sakai & Türkay (2012) this is only a fossil species and they treat it as a nomen dubium. Thalassina emerii Bell, 1844 has been used to identify Recent specimens by Ngoc-Ho & de Saint Laurent (2009) and earlier. Ngoc-Ho & de Saint Laurent's (2009) material from Western Australia comprises T. australiensis Sakai & Türkay, 2012 and T. saetichelis.Sakai & Türkay, 2012.
