Introduction

This species is widespread in eastern Australia and with a record from the Northern Territory. Day (1999) indicates that the distribution needs to be confirmed because there at least three undescribed species in collections in addition to the two named species.

All stages: phloem feeder.

Diagnosis

Piceus, abdomine pedibusque flavescente-piceis; lateribus pectoris dense griseo-sericeis; tegminibus vitreis, basi obscure, apice costaque dilute piceis, venis radiali et ulnari apicem versus venisque areas discoidales includentibus nigricantibus. Caput sat dense distincteque punctatum, jugis paullo ante oculos subito subtruncatis, fronte leviter inflexa, basi utrimque distincte lobata, deorsum paullo prominula. Thorax dense distincteque punctatus, linea Iaeviuscula obsoleta media instructus, sat convexus, processu postico basi lato et convexo, primum levissime, dein versus medium magis angustato, pone medium gracili et sensim acuminato, ruga longitudinali subtili media, posterius in carinam elevata, instructo, apice distincte decurvo, apicem abdominis aequante. Tegmina apicem abdominis nonnihil superantia. ♀. Long. 7, Lat. 3½ mm. (Stål 1869).

Head black or brown. Pronotum black or brown, coarsely rugose with a slight median anterior ridge. Median pronotal process anteriorly constricted. Tegmen hyaline brown; R and M proximally dark brown, distally, and the remaining veins, pale brown; veins bordered with golden hairs. Length ♀ 6.6–7.5 mm (Evans 1966).
