Inland southeastern Australia from Stanthorpe, QLD to Beechworth, VIC. Records of this species from WA and SA are based on T. stevensii, previously a junior synonym of this species.

Adult: diurnal, florivore (associated flora: Eucalyptus uncinata Turcz. [MYRTACEAE] Hook-leaved Mallee (on flowers); Eucalyptus cylindriflora Maiden & Blakely [MYRTACEAE] White Mallee (on flowers)), volant.
Larva: wood-borer.
Extra Ecological Information
Hawkeswood (1982) recorded this species (as tibialis) on flowers of Eucalyptus cylindriflora and E. foecunda. Barker & Inns (1976) reported this species as prey of the large asilid fly, Phellus piliferus, and Hawkeswood & Knowles (1985) recorded possible predation of this species (as tibialis) by the Western Magpie, Gymnorhina dorsalis.
