Diagnosis

Column elongated, worm-like, pink-yellowish. Column wall has thick mesogloea. Capitulum short, greyish. Tentacles in 3 or 4 cycles, short, blunt, bulbed, greyish. Mouth linear, two siphonoglyphs. Aconita emitted feebly through mouth. Burrows in sand, only upper part of column visible when expanded. Marginal sphincter muscle long and mesogloeal, lies close to endoderm, in a band of uniform width, broken transversely by numerous narrow strands of mesogloea at irregular intervals. Mesenteries, 36, with strong retractor muscles, sometimes in form of kidney-shape in cross-section.
