Diagnosis

Isophelliidae with elongated, more or less cylindrical body, divisible into scapus and scapulus. Scapus with a rough, wrinkled cuticle, without tenaculi proper. Scapulus short. No cinclides. Tentacles rather short, about the same in number as the mesenteries, their apices sometimes more or less distinctly differentiated from their proximal parts. Siphonoglyphs well developed. Only the mesenteries of the first cycle are typical macrocnemes and perfect. Mesenteries of the third cycle may be atypically arranged. Retractors of the macrocnemes very strong more or less kidney-shaped in cross-section. Acontia slender. Cnidom: spirocysts, basitrichs, microbasic b-mastigophores, microbasic amastigophores.
