Taxonomic Decision for Synonymy

Introduction
Although originally described from Tasmania, T. montana has subsequently been recorded from the higher regions of Victoria and New South Wales. The brachypterous form is more common than the macropterous form and the two were originally described as separate species.

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: phloem feeder (associated flora: Richea spp. [EPACRIDACEAE]; Epacris spp. [EPACRIDACEAE]; Orites spp. [PROTEACEAE]; Baeckea spp. [MYRTACEAE]).
Diagnosis
Winged form. Face of head marked with a pattern of light and dark brown; antennal depressions black. Crown of head raised and rugose medially; ocelli slightly closer to the fore, than to the hind margin. Pronotum steeply declivous, brown. Scutellum dark brown with yellow markings. Tegmen, clavus opaque and coriaceous; remainder colourless hyaline; veins brown. Length ♀ 4 mm.
Brachypterous form. Face of head marked with a pattern of light and dark brown. Crown flat, ocelli small and inconspicuous. Pronotum on a plane with the crown, brown. Scutellum concolorous with the pronotum, sometimes with two yellowish markings. Tegmen brachypterous, coriaceous, brown but for a whitish streak that widens posteriorly and terminates anteriorly against the hind margin of the pronotum; sometimes also a brown oval marking. Length ♀ 4 mm (Evans 1966).
