Type species:
Tartarus mullamullangensis Gray, 1973 by original designation.
Introduction
The genus Tartarus comprises four species described from caves on the Hampton Tableland area of the Nullarbor Plain in Western Australia. The genus is closely related to Baiami Lehtinen, but like troglobitic species of other invertebrate taxa, Tartarus spiders lack eyes and pigmentation. The web takes the form of a wide suspended funnel (‘lampshade’ shaped) inside which the spider sits on the substrate attachment.
