Genus Synasterope Kornicker, 1975

Introduction

The second largest genus in the family, Synasterope, contains 27 species. Poulsen (1965) erected this genus for six new species, along with Brady’s (1898) Asterope oculata and (1902) Asterope quadrata, and Kornicker’s (1958) Asteropina setispara. As with Parasterope, Synasterope has s-seta with 0+6 and the d-seta is minute or absent, but the mandible lacks the e-seta. Kornicker (1975) designated the type species Synasterope implumis Poulsen, 1965.
