Diagnosis
Stenopsoides truncatus is most similar in appearance to S. newi in colouration, being mostly yellow with orange on face, legs and base of tegmen but is distinguished by being slightly smaller in body length. It differs from all other species in the shape of the pronotal extension, being more constricted at the base, with parallel lateral margins (when viewed dorsally), and being truncate at the apex (the pronotum is either tapering to a rounded apex or enlarged and dorsoventrally flattened in the other species). It is similar to S. newi in having no brown dots on the tegmen while has brown dots evenly over tegmen and S. turneri has dots only in the costal cells (Semeraro et al. 2021).
