Introduction

This endemic genus, which was transferred from the Athysanini by Zahniser & Dietrich (2013), includes two species, only one of which is described. Unfortunately, the type series of S. apollonos Kirkaldy comprises only the holotype which is a female and the two species can only be differentiated on the basis of the male genitalia. Only one of the species has been found in the type locality in the wet tropics of North Queensland and this is the more common and widespread species. This species is here regarded as being S. apollonos until other contradictory evidence becomes available. The genus is distributed across the tropical parts of Australia from Cairns in the wet tropics of North Queensland to the northern coastal regions of Western Australia.

Diagnosis

Vertex produced in front of the eyes, apically obtuse-angled but not quite so long as the maximum width, disk somewhat depressed. Angulate in profile, the ocelli (which are large but flat and probably not functional) close to the eyes on the sharp margin itself. Frons broad, slightly narrowing apically, lateral margins feebly rounded, tempora almost obsolete. Genae sinuate, lora remote from their apical margin. Clypeus broad, narrower than the apex of the frons. Pronotum a little shorter than the vertex, finely striate transversely, acute-angled laterally. Scutellum wider than long. Claval suture longer than the membrane, the latter with an appendix (Kirkaldy 1907).
