Introduction

This cavernicolous species is known from several caves near Chillagoe, North Queensland. Hoch & Howarth (1989) discuss the variation displayed in the male genitalia which may be intraspecific variation or indicate interrupted gene flow between the populations in the different caves.

Nymph might be phloem feeder or fungivore.

 

Diagnosis

S. pholetor can be distinguished from other Solanaima species by the proportions of the head and the shape of the aedeagus (Hoch & Howarth 1989)
