Species Pempheris schwenkii Bleeker, 1855

Silver Bullseye

Introduction

Records of this species from the coast of Western Australia represent the recently described P. tominagai according to Koeda et al. (2014). They separated P. schwenkii into an eastern and a western species, with that species not found in Western Australia. However, the type locality of the species is Sumatra in the eastern Indian Ocean. Randall & Bineesh (2014) recorded the species from India, but indicated that the species may be a complex of two or more species. Tentatively we retain the name here following Koeda et al. (2014).
