Genus Scotocyma Turner, 1904

Introduction

Historically researchers have had difficulty with the tribal placement of this genus. Both McQuillan and Edwards (1996) and Holloway (1997) left the genus unplaced; although Holloway suggested an affinity with the Xanthorhoini on a character of the male genitalia. Schmidt (2003, 2005) later confirmed this relationship in a comparative study of Scotocyma and other Xanthorhoini and a revision of the genus.
