Introduction

This is the largest of the three species of Yalkula Day. It is found in the wet tropics and the eastern side of the neighbouring Einasleigh Uplands in North Queensland. The species name refers to the type locality.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Largest species of the genus. Close to R. naumanni but more coarsely punctate than other members of the genus. White scale-like setae on the sides of the metopidium, extending onto the head behind the eyes. Eyes conspicuous and protruding. Median pronotal process longer than in R. naumanni and more acute posterior to the hump. Lateral pronotal processes apically more acute than in R. naumanni and horizontally aligned with anterior pronotum when viewed dorsally. Dorsal carina well developed. Tegmen with extra crossveins. Length (holotype ♀), 6.5 mm (Day 1999).
