Rowley Shoals (17°05'S, 119°35'E) and Scott Reef (14°03, 121°46), WA, Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea (12°15'S, 123°03'E), Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Indian Ocean, and northern Great Barrier Reef (11°00'S, 144°01'E) to Solitary Islands, NSW (30°01'S, 153°16'E) with juveniles as far south as Montague Island, NSW (36°15'S), also offshore reefs of the Coral Sea from Boot Reef (9°59'S, 144°42'E), Coringa Herald Reserva and Lihou Reef to Elizabeth & Middleton Reefs (29°56'S, 159°06'E), and Lord Howe Island, Tasman Sea, NSW; tropical, east-Indo-west-central Pacific.
