Fremantle, WA (32º05´S) to Moreton Bay, QLD (27º16´S) however recent recognition of Psammoperca datnioides as a valid species makes precise distribution uncertain (see Iwatsuki et al. 2018); tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific.
