Genus Psammogobius Smith, 1935

Type species:
Psammogobius knysnaensis Smith, 1935 by monotypy.
Introduction
At least four species are known in the genus, with three known from Australia. Because several names are available for species in the P. biocellatus complex, we retain the oldest name here for the common species, until further work clarifies the species definitions. Some records from eastern Australia are based on a different species.
