Introduction
Tillyard (1926) used the name Salius tuberculatus for this species. As the generic name Salius Fabricius, 1804 is a synonym of Cryptocheilus there is a possibility that this species should be placed there. However, Tillyards work was not a taxonomic one and the previous taxonomic assignment by Schulz (1908) was to the subgenus Prionocnemis, an emendation of the name Priocnemis. Priocnemis has since been raised to generic rank and [Elliot 2007 tentatively placed] the species there. Examination of the type material is needed to confirm this placement.
