Fog Bay, west of Darwin, NT to Princess Charlotte Bay , QLD (14°12'S, 143°58'E) based on specimens in NTM, AM and CSIRO; earlier records based on misidentified specimens of Pomadasys trifasciatus Fowler, 1937 and further work is needed to document occurrence in Australia; tropical; east-Indo-west Pacific
