Introduction
This small brown species is widespread and common in eastern Australia. Distribution records for the species given by Smithers (1985) included the first record from Western Australia, from Barrow Island. Day (1999) also recorded the species from South Australia and Tasmania without providing details of precise localities within those states.

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: phloem feeder (associated flora: Acacia pycnantha Benth. [FABACEAE] Golden Wattle).
Diagnosis
Ferrugineus vel nigro-ferrugineus, punctatus; lateribus pectoris et scutelli dense griseo-sericeis; thorace cornubus lateralibus breviusculis, extrorsum productis, pone cornua illa in dorso inermi, processu postico posterius leviter curvato; tegminibus subvinaceo-hyalinis, basi et ad costam ferrugineis et punctatis. ♂ ♀. Long. 5, Lat. 2 mm (Stål 1869).
Coloration, brown or blackish brown. Lateral pronotal extensions horizontal, transverse in ♂, slightly recurved and longer and narrower in ♀. Median pronotal process consisting of a widely rounded and only slightly elevated carina, somewhat higher in the ♀ than in the ♂. Tegmen purplish brown, sometimes in part vitreous. Length ♂, ♀, 4–5 mm (Evans 1966).
